Week One — The Airborne Mutation

It is January 8th, 2024. Week One of the Rotting Plague outbreak. A British male with a blue suit and red tie is seen on your television screens “Good morning, this is United Unlimited News with a breaking update on the “rotting plague”. Reports from hospitals in the United States have confirmed suspicions that the plague has evolved to have an airborne variant. Originally theorized to be spread by direct contact with victims of the plague, the Rotting Plague’s mutation comes as a surprise due to how rapidly we saw direct mutation of it. Victims now vary in length of exposure, however with the airborne variant now spreading rapidly in the US and China, concerns are that the European Union will see cases in the next few weeks. It is confirmed however that the US Federal Government declared a state of emergency, and has since been unheard from. Local and state governments in the states are still reporting activity, with densely populated areas such as New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey having fully collapsed. Washington DC is unconfirmed at this time to be collapsed, however reports from those that can monitor the situation via UAV have confirmed plumes of smoke and mass riots have been seen in the streets. Local governments in states such as Maine however have successfully quarantined some of the towns small enough and dense enough to start sending survivors and unaffected individuals to for safety, and major cities have been designated as Restricted Zones, forcing the abandonment of the effort to secure them for humanity to thrive once again. The governor of Maine, Brody House, has released a press statement saying “Maine is the strongest state of the United States. We thrive in the coldest environment while other states can’t survive two feet of snow. Our citizens are simply on a different echelon compared to those of the rest of the US, and we will stand regardless of this outbreak and how long it will last. In order to ensure a peaceful and unhindered effort against the rotting plague, we have reorganized the National Guard into the Legal Authority of Maine. This temporary measure helps to reinforce the Martial Law that is enacted across the state. Please cooperate with LAM Officers as we solve this crisis and return our beautiful state to its normal place.” Citizens of the state have been quoted on social media saying that Governor House is “overstepping” and is using this crisis to “fortify his power as the governor of Maine”. This is all unconfirmed and remains rumors at most, however concerns of Governor House rise by the day. We will return with more news when we can update you on the situation at hand.”
